What to Look or In A Cordless Headset

Another subject I have been covering is Headsets. This covers a range from a simple bluetooth clip-on to link to a mobile phone thru gaming headsets which are basically stereo headphones with a microphone. However some things are common:

If you are the type of consumer who gives great importance to convenience then a cordless headset would work well for you.
There are various types of cordless headset on sale which work with office or home phones, cell phones or computers (some models can work with all of these). As a result they are usable in a number of situations such as:

• in a call center where the user is no longer tied to their desk all day.
• in general offices where they allow the user to move about and multi-task whilst on the phone. With optional handset lifters users can also answer and hang up calls whilst away from their desk.
• As a "hands free" device to enable mobile phone users to safely do things like drive a car.
• For entertainment such as games and even to listen to music.

When on the phone it is usually desirable to hear what is happening nearby, so single ear headsets are the best option (even if they are actually worn over the head). However you can also get stereo models (which are like headphones with a microphone) which are ideal for applications like gaming and music where you do not want to be distracted by what is going on around you.
If you are thinking of purchasing a headset some of the things to consider are:

• Signal Range – The distance you can go from the base station varies.
• Battery Life – How long does the battery last in continuous use and what is the recharge time?
• Sound quality – Ideally, with the help of devices like noise filtering microphones, this should be better than with a handset.
• Security – If your conversations will include any confidential information you need a headset that encrypts the data sent between the headset and the base station.
• Comfort – Bear in mind that you will be wearing the headset for long periods so comfort is a key criteria.
