The North Face Primero 70 - The Ultimate Outdoor Backpack Packed with Features

Another backpack but this one, the North Face Primero 70, is for the serious hiker or climber:

It is built with the revolutionary X Radial™ suspension and EVA injection modeled foam back-panels which together will help you keep walking comfortably, even with a heavy load, for longer than would be possible with a normal bag.

The X Radial™ suspension incorporated in The North Face Primero 70 is a frame that serves to ergonomically support your body throughout your outdoor hike and makes the body's natural movements such as bending, reaching, and hiking over uneven terrain more comfortable. This aluminium flex frame is specially configured to copy the body's natural movement to ensure your comfort in the long term. It emulates the opposing rotation of the shoulders and the hips to eliminate the resistance of the load, thus effectively lessening the burdenNorth Face Primero 70 on the hiker.

The North Face Big Shot Backpack - The Big Daypack With Big Storage and Big Functionality

I have recently been reviewing backpacks by The North Face. Below is an extract relating to the North Face big Shot backpack:

More often than not, what we look for when buying a backpack is something that is big enough to hold our stuff and durable enough to last a long time. The North Face Big Shot backpack is a daypack that can exceed both of these expectations.

It has a very spacious compartment that is ideal as a daily school bag or as a daypack for camping or trekking. The North Face Big Shot Backpack has a very large main compartment that can store things like books, gear, and clothes. It also has a well-padded laptop sleeve with a strap that can store most 17-inch notebook computers securely. This laptop sleeve can be alternatively used as a storage for a hydration pack as this backpack has a slot for the tube.

The North Face Backpacks: A Product Review

If you like venturing into the great outdoors then you should make sure you invest in the best possible outdoor equipment. Aside from investing in really good and dependable climbing shoes, a sturdy comfortable and awesome quality backpack must be your top priority. When you are out hiking or climbing your backpack must keep everything safe and secure. In addition you need one which will not leave you worrying about snapped straps or the bag itself being too heavy on your shoulders.

One brand that is famous for its high-quality, functional, and durable backpacks is The North Face. North Face backpacks are made using unique technology specifically to meet user's needs. The large product range means whatever you are looking for there is a backpack to meet your needs. One of the North Face technologies is the Opti-Fit suspension system which makes it possible to carry even heavy backpacks in relative comfort. They also have a Verti-Cool back panel which is an open air mesh stretched across the back. Its main function is to allow air to circulate between its user and the backpack itself. This type of bag technology helps keep the user feeling cool and comfortable even on a strenuous, long journey. Indeed, North Face backpacks are really multi-functional and are equipped with some awesome features which is why this brand tops the wish lists of most backpackers.

North Face has in fact collaborated with the American Chiropractic Association to help produce a range of products that offer greater comfort for the user and prevent any back pain from carrying a heavy backpack. There is a large range of North Face backpacks which come in various styles and colors all equipped with special features to make your backpacking experience a feel-good and worry-free one.

Other great models in The North Face range include:

  • The North Face Big Shot which has a large 2,100 cubic inch volume and will meet your requirements for outdoor or school use.
  • The North Face Surge Backpack another large 2,100 cubic inch volume bag which features a special compartment for a PC, positioned ideally for good weight distribution, and safe from anything else you might be carrying.
  • The North Face Borealis Backpack a medium sized 1,650 cubic inch bag with two compartments, the smaller of which features an organiser.

It has to be said that North Face backpacks are more expensive than most of their competitors but this is a case of "you get what you pay for". You can stick with a North Face backpack for as long as you want because these products are really made to last for a long time.

What to Look or In A Cordless Headset

Another subject I have been covering is Headsets. This covers a range from a simple bluetooth clip-on to link to a mobile phone thru gaming headsets which are basically stereo headphones with a microphone. However some things are common:

If you are the type of consumer who gives great importance to convenience then a cordless headset would work well for you.
There are various types of cordless headset on sale which work with office or home phones, cell phones or computers (some models can work with all of these). As a result they are usable in a number of situations such as:
  • in a call center where the user is no longer tied to their desk all day.
  • in general offices where they allow the user to move about and multi-task whilst on the phone. With optional handset lifters users can also answer and hang up calls whilst away from their desk.
  • As a "hands free" device to enable mobile phone users to safely do things like drive a car.
  • For entertainment such as games and even to listen to music.
When on the phone it is usually desirable to hear what is happening nearby, so single ear headsets are the best option (even if they are actually worn over the head). However you can also get stereo models (which are like headphones with a microphone) which are ideal for applications like gaming and music where you do not want to be distracted by what is going on around you.
If you are thinking of purchasing a headset some of the things to consider are:
  • Signal Range – The distance you can go from the base station varies.
  • Battery Life – How long does the battery last in continuous use and what is the recharge time?
  • Sound quality – Ideally, with the help of devices like noise filtering microphones, this should be better than with a handset.
  • Security – If your conversations will include any confidential information you need a headset that encrypts the data sent between the headset and the base station.
  • Comfort – Bear in mind that you will be wearing the headset for long periods so comfort is a key criteria.
Some examples of headsets and associated equipment on the market are:
  • Jabra GN 9120 Headset – This is a top quality office headset with excellent performance and security.  It offers a range of 300 feet and 8 hours battery life if used continuously.
  • Jabra VBT 2050 Headset – An ear bud bluetooth headset aimed at the "hands free" mobile market.  It features 4 buttons for dealing with calls, adjusting the sound levels and muting a call.
  • Plantronics M10 Modular Adapter – This features an amplifier and technology to clean up calls and improve the audio quality.
There are a great many cordless headsets available so there is certain to be one that meets your needs.

Is A Pool Heater A Good Idea?

Welcome to my first post.
I recently wrote an article about Pool Heaters and looked at whether they are a good idea in these environmentally conscious times. Below is an extract:
In these environmentally conscious times you may wonder if installing a pool heater is a good idea. Isn’t it just wasting energy, being environmentally unfriendly and at the same time very expensive?
Certainly these points Pool Heatersneed to be considered but a pool heater can greatly increase your enjoyment of your pool (and the investment in it) by making it useable all day and extending the “swimming season”.
There can also be significant health benefits as swimming is very good exercise particularly for people who suffer from arthritis and muscular diseases. A heated pool also prevents chilling and the problems caused by the loss of too much body heat which can affect very young children and the elderly.
There are a number of steps you can take to minimize energy usage so that costs are controlled:
Type of Heater – This is probably the key decision. At present gas heaters (such as the Raypak Digital Heater) are the most common type but they can be expensive to run (particularly propane heaters). The best from an energy and running cost point of view are now electric heat pumps. Normal heaters can never be more than 100% efficient (gas heaters are about 80%) but heat pumps (such as Hayward Heat Pumps) can several hundred percent efficient (i.e. you get several times more energy out than you put in) because they are not actually generating heat they are moving it from one place (the surrounding air) to another (the pool water). Heat pump heaters are not as powerful as gas heaters so need to run for longer periods but they are still much cheaper to run.
